What You Need to Know Before You Apply

What is the purpose of this trial?

This trial explores a new imaging method called SLR-108, an experimental imaging agent, to determine its effectiveness in enhancing PET scans for individuals with metastatic solid tumors. The goal is to assess whether SLR-108 can improve tumor visualization for doctors. Participants will be divided into groups to test different doses of the treatment. Those with solid tumors that have spread and have not responded to previous treatments might be suitable candidates. As a Phase 1 trial, the research focuses on understanding how the treatment works in people, offering participants the opportunity to be among the first to receive this new treatment.

What prior data suggests that SLR-108 is safe for PET imaging of metastatic cancer?

Research on SLR-108, a new substance for PET scans, remains in the early stages. In phase 1, scientists primarily assess its safety and how the body processes it. Specific safety information is limited, but phase 1 typically involves small groups to ensure no major safety concerns arise. If SLR-108 had severe side effects, it would not progress to the next phase. Although detailed safety information is not yet available, its testing in humans indicates it has passed initial safety checks.12345

Why are researchers excited about this trial?

Unlike standard imaging techniques for metastatic cancer, which often rely on traditional radiology methods, SLR-108 offers a new approach by using a targeted antibody that binds specifically to cancer cells. This specificity not only enhances imaging precision but also minimizes exposure to surrounding healthy tissues. Researchers are excited because SLR-108's unique mechanism could improve the accuracy of cancer detection and monitoring, potentially leading to better treatment outcomes for patients.

What evidence suggests that SLR-108 is effective for PET imaging of metastatic cancer?

Research has shown that imaging techniques effectively detect cancer that has spread to other parts of the body. One study found that imaging methods identified cancer spread in 65% of cases with suspicious or definite signs. Specifically, FDG-PET scans detected cancer spread in all cases, while CT scans found it in 35% of cases. This suggests that imaging tools, like SLR-108, could be highly accurate in detecting and assessing cancer spread. Radiotracers, substances used in these imaging tests, play a crucial role in accurately finding, staging, and monitoring cancer. In this trial, participants will receive different doses of SLR-108 to evaluate its effectiveness in identifying and managing metastatic cancer.678910

Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?

This trial is for adults with metastatic solid tumors, including biliary tract cancer. Participants should be able to undergo PET imaging and meet general health requirements set by the study team.
