DSP-5336 for Blood Cancer
What You Need to Know Before You Apply
What is the purpose of this trial?
This trial tests how the new drug DSP-5336 is absorbed, processed, and eliminated in individuals with blood cancers that have worsened despite standard treatments. Participants will take DSP-5336 orally, and researchers will monitor the drug's movement through their system. This trial may suit individuals whose blood cancer has not responded to other treatments and who can attend study visits for monitoring. As a Phase 1 trial, participants will be among the first to receive this new treatment, aiding researchers in understanding its effects in people.
Do I have to stop taking my current medications for the trial?
The trial protocol does not specify if you need to stop taking your current medications. However, you cannot have received other anticancer drugs or investigational treatments within 14 days before starting the trial.
Is there any evidence suggesting that DSP-5336 is likely to be safe for humans?
Research has shown that DSP-5336, also known as Enzomenib, is generally well-tolerated by patients. Studies have not found any serious side effects that would prevent increasing the dose, indicating that patients can handle the treatment without severe side effects interrupting it. Additionally, no major heart-related issues were reported among the patients.
In one study, only two out of 58 patients experienced severe heart-related side effects, suggesting that such side effects are rare. Overall, these findings suggest that DSP-5336 is safe for use in humans. However, as with any new treatment, ongoing research will continue to monitor and ensure its safety.12345Why do researchers think this study treatment might be promising for blood cancer?
Researchers are excited about DSP-5336 because it offers a new approach to treating blood cancer by potentially targeting cancer cells more precisely. Unlike conventional treatments like chemotherapy that affect both healthy and cancerous cells, DSP-5336 is designed to focus on specific pathways associated with cancer cell growth, potentially leading to fewer side effects. Additionally, the treatment involves both tablet and solution forms, which might provide more flexibility in dosing and administration compared to existing options. This unique mechanism and delivery method could offer a more targeted and convenient treatment option for patients.
What evidence suggests that DSP-5336 might be an effective treatment for blood cancer?
Research has shown that DSP-5336 targets cancer cells in blood cancers by blocking a specific protein interaction. In some blood cancer patients, this interaction aids cancer cell survival and growth. Previous patients demonstrated promising results, with 85% responding to the treatment and 62% achieving complete remission. Additionally, DSP-5336 was well-tolerated, allowing patients to take it without severe side effects. These early findings suggest that DSP-5336 could be an effective treatment option for those unresponsive to other therapies. Participants in this trial will receive DSP-5336 as tablets and [14C]-DSP-5336 solution.16789
Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?
This trial is for adults with advanced blood cancers that have come back or worsened after standard treatments. Participants must have good kidney and liver function, be able to attend all study visits, and agree to use contraception if needed.Inclusion Criteria
