What You Need to Know Before You Apply

What is the purpose of this trial?

This trial aims to test a new mobile health app, MindBodyU, designed for young people living with HIV in South Carolina. The app helps users stay engaged with their care, take their medication on time, and improve overall well-being. Researchers seek to evaluate the app's ease of use and effectiveness in boosting medication adherence and care engagement. Ideal candidates for this trial are young people diagnosed with HIV who live in South Carolina and speak English. As an unphased trial, this study offers participants the chance to contribute to innovative research that could enhance healthcare engagement for others.

Do I have to stop taking my current medications for the trial?

The trial information does not specify whether you need to stop taking your current medications. It seems focused on using mobile health technology to help with medication adherence, so you might be able to continue your current treatment.

What prior data suggests that this mHealth intervention is safe for youth living with HIV?

Research has shown that mobile health (mHealth) tools like MindBodyU are generally well-received and improve health outcomes for people with HIV. Studies have found that these digital tools assist individuals in taking their medication on time and staying engaged in their care, thereby enhancing adherence to treatment plans. Importantly, past research identified no major safety issues with MindBodyU, suggesting it is safe for users. Most users find these apps helpful and easy to use, with no serious problems reported. This makes mHealth tools like MindBodyU a promising way to enhance health without introducing new risks.12345

Why are researchers excited about this trial?

Unlike traditional treatments for HIV that rely heavily on medication alone, MindBodyU is unique because it leverages mobile health (mHealth) technology to support young people living with HIV in South Carolina. This innovative app not only provides learning content and daily medication reminders but also offers appointment alerts, mental health tracking, and a platform for peer support. Researchers are excited about MindBodyU because it aims to improve medication adherence and psychosocial wellbeing through a holistic, tech-driven approach that engages users actively in their healthcare journey.

What evidence suggests that the MindBodyU intervention is effective for improving care engagement and medication adherence in youth living with HIV?

This trial will evaluate the MindBodyU intervention, a mobile health (mHealth) tool designed to support young people living with HIV. Studies have shown that mHealth tools can effectively assist people with HIV by simplifying medication adherence and maintaining healthcare engagement. Research indicates that mHealth tools, like MindBodyU, can also help young people with HIV manage stigma and access vital resources. For example, some mHealth tools have reduced the amount of virus in the blood, making it less detectable. Overall, these technologies aim to improve health for young people with HIV by facilitating treatment adherence and maintaining connections to care.23567
