What is the purpose of this trial?

This project will involve the development, refinement, and preliminary testing of a mobile health intervention (Motivational Enhancement Therapy Skills for Veterans; "METS4Vets"), which will be delivered through a smartphone app. The intervention will aim to support Veterans who are navigating the critical transition from structured residential substance use treatment to outpatient settings.

Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?

This trial is for veterans who have completed residential treatment for substance use or addiction and are moving to outpatient care. Participants should be able to use a smartphone app.

Inclusion Criteria

I am able to understand and sign a consent form.
Current SUD diagnosis according to chart review
Current enrollment in VACHS residential SUD treatment program

Exclusion Criteria

I am currently experiencing psychosis.
I do not have a physical disability that prevents me from using a smartphone or its apps.
I do not have cognitive problems that prevent me from understanding or joining the study.

Preliminary METS4Vets content is developed by the research team, integrating research literature and evidence-based skills content.
