Dorsal Root Electrical Stimulation for Cerebral Palsy
What You Need to Know Before You Apply
What is the purpose of this trial?
The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate whether dorsal root electrical stimulation could reduce spasticity in children with cerebral palsy (CP).
Who Is on the Research Team?
Martin G Piazza, MD
Principal Investigator
University of Pittsburgh
Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?
This trial is for children diagnosed with cerebral palsy who experience muscle stiffness or spasticity. Specific inclusion and exclusion criteria are not detailed, but participants must have CP-related muscle issues.Inclusion Criteria

Timeline for a Trial Participant
Screening
Participants are screened for eligibility to participate in the trial
Treatment
Dorsal root electrical stimulation is applied during selective dorsal rhizotomy surgery to assess its effect on spasticity
Follow-up
Participants are monitored for safety and effectiveness after treatment
What Are the Treatments Tested in This Trial?
Trial Overview
The study tests whether using a device to deliver electrical stimulation to the dorsal root nerves can help reduce muscle stiffness in children with cerebral palsy. Devices used include the Constant Current Stimulator and Cadwell Guardian System.
How Is the Trial Designed?
