What You Need to Know Before You Apply

What is the purpose of this trial?

The main purpose of this Keep Social randomized controlled trial is to examine the effectiveness of our social connectedness intervention to improve social and emotional well-being among young adults with cancer. The investigators will conduct a randomized controlled trial with a sample of up to 395 US young adults (ages 22-39) who previous had a cancer diagnosis as an adolescent or young adult (diagnosed at age 15-39).

Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?

This trial is for young adults in the US, ages 22-39, who were diagnosed with cancer between ages 15 and 39. Participants should be able to take part in a social connectedness program.

Inclusion Criteria

Reside in the United States
I was diagnosed with cancer between ages 15 and 39.
I use social media.

Exclusion Criteria

Report high psychosocial health (≥4.5 mean of two mental health quality of life items)
I am not able or willing to complete the study surveys.

Timeline for a Trial Participant

Screening

Participants are screened for eligibility to participate in the trial

Baseline

Gather information about daily life as usual, including social interactions

Weekly surveys

Intervention

Participants interact with a simulated social media platform, Invibe, with exposure to intervention or control stimuli

4 weeks
Weekly surveys

Follow-up

Participants complete the final weekly survey to assess outcomes

Trial Overview

The study tests whether a special program designed to help people feel more socially connected can improve emotional well-being in young adults who have had cancer. Participants are randomly assigned to either receive this intervention or not.
