What You Need to Know Before You Apply

What is the purpose of this trial?

The purpose of this research study is to determine the effectiveness of Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) therapy in the treatment of participants with Late-life depression (LLD).

The study will evaluate feasibility, safety, and tolerability of high-dose (6mA) bilateral tDCS delivered as three daily sessions, 3 times a week, for 3 weeks in older adults (60 y/o and older) with late-life depression.

Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?

This trial is for adults aged 60 and older who are currently experiencing depression later in life. People with certain medical or psychiatric conditions, or those unable to safely participate as judged by the study team, may not be eligible.

Inclusion Criteria

I am 60 years old or older.
Score of 17 or higher on the 17-item Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HDRS-17) at screening
I am able to understand and agree to participate in this study.

Exclusion Criteria

Dementia or MoCA score below 17
Active suicidal ideation with plan or intent requiring a higher level of care
Pregnancy

Timeline for a Trial Participant

Screening

Participants are screened for eligibility to participate in the trial

High-dose (6mA) bilateral tDCS delivered as three daily sessions, 3 times a week, for 3 weeks

Trial Overview

The study is testing high-intensity (6 mA) transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), a non-invasive brain stimulation therapy. Participants receive tDCS three times a day, three days per week, over three weeks.
