What is the purpose of this trial?

This study plans to learn more about whether exercise can help protect the body from health problems that happen when a person's sleep and daily schedule are out of sync with their natural body clock (circadian rhythm).

Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?

This trial is for healthy adults who experience disruptions to their sleep and daily routines, such as from night shift work or jet lag. People with major health issues or conditions that could interfere with exercise are not eligible.

Inclusion Criteria

Willing and able to wear activity/sleep monitor for 7 consecutive days
Body Mass Index 18.5-<40 kg/m^2
Physically inactive defined as <150 minutes per week of voluntary exercise at moderate intensity or greater and <60 min per day of total habitual physical activity at moderate intensity or greater over the past 3 months

Exclusion Criteria

Triglycerides >400 mg/dL
LDL cholesterol >200 mg/dL
Self-reported long (>9.25h) or short (<7h) sleep making exercise adherence difficult

Trial Overview

The study is testing whether regular aerobic exercise can help reduce the negative effects of having your sleep schedule out of sync with your natural body clock. Participants will follow an exercise routine while researchers monitor their health.
