What You Need to Know Before You Apply

What is the purpose of this trial?

This trial tests a new mobile app designed to help adults in Quebec use cannabis safely. Researchers aim to determine if the app, called Joint Effort, is more effective than receiving information from a webpage. The trial seeks adults who use cannabis recreationally, can read and write in French, and have an iPhone. Participants will use the app to assess its impact on their understanding and use of cannabis. As an unphased trial, this study offers participants the chance to contribute to innovative research that could enhance safe cannabis use for many.

Do I need to stop my current medications for the trial?

The trial information does not specify whether you need to stop taking your current medications.

What prior data suggests that this mobile app is safe for promoting the safe use of cannabis?

Research has shown that the Joint Effort app is safe for users. Tests confirmed its ease of use and effectiveness in helping people manage their cannabis use. No major problems were reported during testing. Users found it helpful and did not experience any negative effects. The app is designed to assist people in making safer choices when using cannabis. So far, studies have revealed no safety concerns.12345

Why are researchers excited about this trial?

The Joint Effort app is unique because it offers a mobile application-based approach to support individuals in managing cannabis use, unlike traditional methods such as counseling, therapy, or medication. This innovative app provides users with accessible, real-time support and personalized strategies right from their smartphones, making it more convenient and potentially more engaging. Researchers are excited about this treatment because it leverages technology to offer tailored feedback and continuous support, which could enhance adherence and effectiveness compared to standard approaches.

What evidence suggests that this trial's treatments could be effective for promoting safe cannabis use?

Research has shown that the Joint Effort app, available to participants in this trial, helps individuals manage cannabis use safely. Studies have found that digital tools like this app can significantly reduce cannabis consumption frequency. Testing has confirmed the app's ease of use and effectiveness, making it a practical tool for independently managing cannabis use. Reviews of multiple studies indicate that these digital tools positively impact reducing cannabis use. Although some studies show mixed results, the overall evidence supports the app's potential to help users control their cannabis consumption. Another treatment option in this trial includes brief normative feedback and standard information, serving as an active comparator.24567
