What You Need to Know Before You Apply

What is the purpose of this trial?

This trial explores how the Mighty Pro Application, a mobile app, can help women with breast cancer manage stress related to their condition. Participants will either use the app or not for a year to determine its impact on their cancer journey. The trial specifically targets women diagnosed with any type of breast cancer who experience significant stress. Eligible participants should be patients at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Cancer Center, possess a mobile device, and be comfortable using English. As an unphased trial, this study provides a unique opportunity for participants to contribute to innovative research that could enhance stress management for future patients.

Will I have to stop taking my current medications?

The trial information does not specify whether you need to stop taking your current medications. It's best to discuss this with the trial team or your doctor.

What prior data suggests that the Mighty Pro Application is safe for use in breast cancer patients?

Research has shown that the Mighty Pro App is being tested to determine if it can help young women with breast cancer manage stress. As a mobile app, it does not pose the side effects or reactions associated with drugs or medical devices.

The app aims to enhance communication and support, which is generally safe. No evidence suggests it causes harm, as it serves as a tool for managing personal health information and support networks. Participants need a mobile device and email to use the app effectively.

Participating in a study for a mobile app differs from trials for new medications, where safety is a major concern. Here, the focus is on the app's helpfulness and its impact on well-being.12345

Why are researchers excited about this trial?

Researchers are excited about the Mighty Pro Application for breast cancer because it introduces a novel digital approach to patient care. Unlike traditional treatments such as chemotherapy, surgery, or radiation, which directly target cancer cells, the Mighty Pro Application aims to enhance patient support and management through a digital platform. This app could provide personalized health insights, track symptoms, and offer real-time support, potentially improving patients' quality of life and adherence to treatment plans. By integrating technology into cancer care, this application hopes to empower patients and streamline communication with healthcare providers.

What evidence suggests that the Mighty Pro Application is effective for reducing cancer-related distress in young women with breast cancer?

Research has shown that the Mighty Pro App might help reduce stress related to cancer in young women with breast cancer. The app offers social connections and educational resources, which are crucial for emotional support. In this trial, some participants will access the Mighty Pro App for 12 months, while others will not. Although specific data on its effectiveness is still being collected, the app aims to lower stress by enhancing patient communication. Improved communication can lead to better emotional well-being, which is vital for young women facing the unique challenges of breast cancer. These early findings suggest that the Mighty Pro App could be a valuable tool in managing cancer-related stress.26789
