What You Need to Know Before You Apply

What is the purpose of this trial?

The work will examine the mechanisms and potential therapeutic effects of transcranial magnetic stimulation on upper-limb sensorimotor function in individuals with cerebellar dysfunction, including those with damage due to stroke or autoimmune disease.

The study team will work toward a goal of non-invasive stimulation-based neuromodulatory interventions for cerebellar disorders using a closely integrated, clinically oriented cross-species approach. There will be a related study in nonhuman primates.

Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?

This trial is for people who have movement problems due to cerebellar damage, such as from a stroke or certain diseases affecting the cerebellum. Participants should be adults with upper limb coordination issues caused by this type of brain injury.

What Are the Treatments Tested in This Trial?

Interventions

  • Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation

Trial Overview

The study is testing transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), a non-invasive technique that uses magnetic fields to stimulate specific areas of the brain, to see if it can improve arm and hand movement in people with cerebellar disorders.
