What You Need to Know Before You Apply

What is the purpose of this trial?

This trial aims to determine if a new version of the Electronic Asthma Management System (eAMS) can reduce the environmental impact of asthma inhalers. The updated system, eAMS-Eco, provides information on the environmental effects of inhalers and assists doctors and patients in making eco-friendly choices. Researchers will test it in two clinics to assess changes in inhaler prescriptions and asthma control. The trial seeks participants diagnosed with asthma who have recently visited one of the study sites, particularly those who have used an inhaler in the past year. As an unphased trial, this study offers a unique opportunity to contribute to eco-friendly healthcare solutions.

What prior data suggests that the eAMS-Eco is safe for asthma management?

Research has shown that the eAMS-Eco is a tool designed to help doctors select asthma inhalers that are more environmentally friendly. This system aims to reduce carbon emissions from inhalers used in everyday healthcare.

Regarding safety, studies focus on how effectively the eAMS-Eco aids doctors in decision-making, rather than on direct health effects. As a tool for guiding healthcare professionals and not a treatment itself, it poses no direct health risks to patients. It's important to understand that the eAMS-Eco assists with decision-making and does not involve new medications or physical procedures, which are typically the main safety concerns in clinical trials.12345

Why are researchers excited about this trial?

Researchers are excited about this trial because it explores an innovative approach to asthma management that is both patient-centered and environmentally friendly. Unlike traditional asthma treatments that focus solely on symptom control, the Climate-Conscious Clinical Decision Support System integrates ecological considerations into clinical decisions. This trial aims to find out if using the eAMS-Eco system, which helps clinicians choose inhalers with a lower environmental impact, can effectively manage asthma while reducing the carbon footprint associated with traditional inhaler use. By rethinking asthma care to include sustainability, this trial could pave the way for more eco-friendly healthcare practices.

What evidence suggests that the eAMS-Eco is effective for reducing inhaler carbon emissions in asthma management?

Research has shown that the eAMS-Eco system, one of the systems studied in this trial, helps doctors select asthma inhalers that are more environmentally friendly. Studies have found that inhalers with a low carbon footprint can significantly reduce carbon emissions while maintaining patient safety. One study discovered that environmentally conscious inhaler choices can lower the carbon impact of asthma treatments in primary care. The eAMS-Eco system includes a tool that guides doctors in making eco-friendly choices without compromising asthma control. Previous patients using these systems have managed their asthma better and reduced emissions.23678

Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?

This trial is for people with asthma who visit one of four participating primary care clinics and have been prescribed an inhaler in the past year. It also involves clinicians working at these sites during the study period.
