This trial tests whether a special water filter pitcher can lower arsenic levels in drinking water from private wells. It examines if using the table-top water pitcher reduces arsenic in water and urine over a few weeks and assesses its ease of regular use. The trial is open to New Hampshire residents in Merrimack or Belknap County who rely on private wells with high arsenic levels and can maintain the pitcher. Participants will use the pitcher, submit water and urine samples, and complete online surveys to support the research. As an unphased trial, this study allows participants to contribute to important research that could enhance water safety for many.

Unlike traditional treatments for arsenic poisoning, which often involve complex filtration systems or chemical treatments, the table-top water pitcher filtration system offers a simple and accessible solution. This experimental approach uses a pitcher filter and replacement filters, making it easy for individuals to use in their homes without specialized equipment. Researchers are excited about this treatment because it could provide a low-cost, user-friendly method for reducing arsenic exposure, potentially improving health outcomes for communities facing contaminated water supplies.

Research has shown that some water pitcher filters can effectively reduce arsenic in drinking water.
