What You Need to Know Before You Apply

What is the purpose of this trial?

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of elecoglipron compared with oral semaglutide in adults with T2DM and increased cardiovascular risk that is inadequately managed alone or on stable treatment with other background glucose-lowering medication(s).

Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?

This trial is for adults with type 2 diabetes whose blood sugar isn't well controlled, even if they're already taking other diabetes medicines. Participants should also have a higher risk of heart problems.

Inclusion Criteria

I have had Type 2 Diabetes for at least 90 days.
My type 2 diabetes is not well controlled with diet or current medications.
HbA1c value of ≥ 7% to ≤ 10.5% (53 to 91.3 mmol/mol)

Exclusion Criteria

I am currently being treated for diabetic eye disease or macular swelling.
I have had multiple severe low blood sugar episodes or do not notice low blood sugar symptoms.
I have a serious upper digestive condition or take medicine that affects my stomach's movement.

Screening

Participants are screened for eligibility to participate in the trial

Participants receive either elecoglipron or semaglutide orally once daily

Trial Overview

The study compares a new drug called elecoglipron to an existing medicine, semaglutide, in people with type 2 diabetes. Both drugs are taken by mouth and the goal is to see which works better and how safe they are.
