What You Need to Know Before You Apply

What is the purpose of this trial?

An examination of the participants mouth is done first. If they do not have enough bone to place a dental implant as a tooth replacement, and they have chosen sinus augmentation to treat this issue during implant placement a leukocyte platelet rich fibrin (L-PRF) will be performed instead of using other available options. The only difference from usual care is that L-PRF alone will be used as the bone formation material and two additional x-rays, Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCTs) will be taken right after the procedure and then again six months after treatment. CBCT is a special type of 3D X-ray commonly used in dentistry and oral surgery. Unlike traditional X-rays, which create flat 2D images, CBCT produces detailed 3D images of your teeth, jawbone, nerves, and nearby tissues.

Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?

This trial is for people who are missing some upper teeth and need a dental implant, but don't have enough bone in their upper jaw. Participants must be planning to get sinus augmentation as part of their implant procedure.

Inclusion Criteria

I have at least 5mm of my own bone below my maxillary sinus.
I understand the study and am willing to sign a consent form.
I am healthy or my diabetes is well controlled (HbA1c below 7.0).

Exclusion Criteria

I have a condition that affects how my bones grow or break down.
I am taking medications that affect my bone health.
I have disease in my maxillary sinus.

  • Leukocyte Platelet Rich Fibrin

Trial Overview

The study tests using leukocyte platelet rich fibrin (L-PRF) alone as the material to help new bone grow during sinus lift surgery before dental implants. Extra 3D dental X-rays will be taken right after the procedure and six months later to monitor changes.
